Chris Hughes writes: The day dawned bright and sunny for the four villages walk from Amersham station. Thirteen walkers walked down the hill to the car park where we were joined by two more. Flapjack was given out to the group to encourage them on the walk. We left Amersham Old Town to walk up the hill to Coleshill, our first village. From there we walked to Winchmore Hill, where we enjoyed a short break. Our next village was Penn Street, where we stopped for a photo by the war memorial. We walked across the common and into Penn Woods. Having crossed the busy A404, we walked along and down Toby’s Lane. The path was very pretty – lined with bluebells and greater stitchwort. Nearing the end of the path, we branched off to the left and diagonally crossed a field with a lovely view of Little Missenden and the surrounding hills. After lunch and a drink in The Red Lion, we walked along the valley, passing Shardeloes Lake and back into Amersham Old Town. We admired the beautiful display of tulips in the memorial gardens and then it was back up the hill to the station.
