Kay and Margret’s Report: Six humans and one dog enjoyed this gentle ramble through local woods and fields. It was perfect walking weather – fine, but (thankfully) not too hot – as we set off along the Celandine Way, following the River Pinn from Pinner to Eastcote House Gardens. We then headed across open fields, still following the Pinn, towards Ruislip Woods. Our lunch stop, at the Turntable Tearoom on Ruislip Lido, was enlivened by watching the miniature railway engines and trains of the Ruislip Lido Railway marshalling and turning. We continued following the river along the Hillingdon Trail, enjoying the deserted woods (in August! In the school summer holidays!!) to complete the circuit, passing through a field of lovely horses before returning to Pinner via the beautifully-landscaped Memorial Park. It was an unbelievably ‘rural’ walk through the two densely-populated London Boroughs of Harrow and Hillingdon – a refreshing outing, enjoyed by all.
