Chesham Outer Ring.
General Area: Chesham Outer Ring. Miles: 8 miles moderate walking, with uphill sections
Meeting Time: 10:30 Meeting Place: Chesham Station
Leaders: Kay Waddilove & Margaret Huitson
Leaders’ Mobiles: Kay 07518 365746; Margaret 07762 310509
Travel: From Harrow on the Hill Station take the 9.37 a.m. Metropolitan
line train to Chesham, arriving at 10.19 a.m. There is also a pay
car park at Chesham Station (payment by machine/phone/app).
Nature of Walk: This is a circular rural walk that goes through the open country
and ancient woodlands around Chesham with outstanding views
of the surrounding countryside, valleys and farms. There are a
few steep sections (good practice for those undertaking the
Cornish Coastal Challenge!), but it is possible to shorten the
walk at several points. We will have an early banana break
(other snacks allowed…), then stop for a coffee at The King
Charles pub where there will be an opportunity to get a drink
and use the toilets. As this is located at a busy crossroads, our
lunch stop will be approx. 45 minutes later, so please bring a
picnic for that. We then continue across open field land to return
to Chesham station, where Metropolitan line trains run
regularly to Harrow, Wembley and into London.
