Amersham to Northwood Hills 24.04.2025

Peter’s report: 6 of us started for a long 16 mile walk from Amersham to Northwood Hills, with one stopping off after 12 miles at Harefield. We were lucky with the weather, particularly in the afternoon, which was really summery. Despite HS2 being slow to progress, necessitating about a mile of diversions, we enjoyed lots of nature, including: 2 families of ducklings, White Egrets, Bar-Tailed Godwits (or so we were told by local bird watchers), a brave pair of coots nesting next to a weir (see photo), butterflies, lots of bluebells and a new lake on the Misbourne, near Old Amersham (see main walker photo). Thanks to those who came and perservered despite the back loading of hills.
