SUMMARY:Inspirational women’s walk - Central London
DESCRIPTION:General Area:  Central London Miles: 6.5 miles Grade:  Easy\, Leisurely pace\nMeeting Time: 10:30 Meeting Place: Russell Square Underground Station\nLeader: Hansa Jadva-Patel Mobile: 07752249341\nTravel: Note Change\, no longer: Take 9:46 Met Line from Harrow on the Hill Station to Kings Cross and then on Piccadilly Line to Russell Square for 10:21  This is due to no Piccadilly line and Met Line not running Baker Street to Aldgate. If travelling from Harrow area\, it’s best to catch 9.33am West Midlands train from Harrow & Wealdstone station to Euston station and take a short walk to Russell Square station.\nAlternatively get a Northern line tube to Euston station and walk to Russell Square (which is my plan)!\nNature of Walk: London offers numerous statues and plaques dedicated to women\, from historical figures like suffragettes and activists (Millicent Fawcett and Emmeline Pankhurst)\, healthcare pioneers (Florence Nightingale\, Mary Seacole)\, war heroes (Noor Inayat Khan\, Edith Cavell\, Elizabeth Szabo) literary artist (Agatha Christie\, Virginia Woolf)\, warriors (Boudicca) etc.\n\nTo mark the International Women’s Day (March 8th 2026)\, please  join me in an urban walk through Central London\, visiting some of these statues and plaques and honouring the lives and achievements of just a few incredible women.\n\nMen are very welcomed on the walk too!\n\nThe walk will be at a leisurely pace as we will have brief stops to share some interesting stories of some of the amazing history making / changing women.\n\nWe will aim to finish by around 3pm at Waterloo station. However\, as we will be having regular stops and be walking through busy central London streets\, it is difficult to assess exact timing. There will be plenty of opportunities to drop out with accessible public transport options along the route.\n\nWe will stop at Seven Dials Market for lunch where you can sample some international cuisine or equally\, you can bring your own refreshments/lunch.
