SUMMARY:Wendover to Wendover Woods Circular for Autumn colours
DESCRIPTION:General Area:  Wendover to Wendover Woods Circular     Miles: 9  Moderate      Ascent Approx  900ft.\nMeeting Time : 10.20  Meeting Place : Wendover Station\nLeader:  Sue Aldridge    Mobile: 07713 025494 on day\nTravel: Chiltern Trains  depart Harrow on the Hill 9.39  Arrive Wendover Station 10.16\nNature of Walk:  A varied walk seeing lovely autumnal colours in the Wendover Beechwoods. Starting along ‘The Ridgeway’ we have two steady\, long ascents in the morning with a dip into a quiet side valley in between. Near the highest point we skirt passed an Iron age Hillfort\, then reach the highest point in The Chilterns with some beautiful views across Aylesbury Vale. After descending we pass through a peaceful remembrance churchyard with many RAF memorial graves (WW2) and conclude along the tranquil Wendover Arm of the GU Canal. Tracks/paths are mostly well defined of a good standard\, but there is one rather steep\, narrow uneven descent where poles will be useful if you use them. May be a bit muddy in places after wet weather. Bring a picnic lunch but there’ll be time to use the summit café for drinks/toilets at lunchtime.\nNote: Change of date due to engineering works on Chiltern Lines.
