SUMMARY:Walk from Amersham Station to Martin's funeral
DESCRIPTION:General area: Amersham Miles: 9 easy (first part 1.9 miles)\nMeeting time: 10:20 Meeting Place: Amersham Station\nLeader: Michael Romain Mobile: 07818 000849\nTravel: From Harrow on the Hill station: the choices are the 0945 Met line arriving at Amersham at 10:19 or the 0954 Chiltern Railway arriving at 10:16.\nNature of Walk: Meet at Amersham Station at 10:20. We then walk the 1.9 miles to the crematorium aiming to reach there by 1110. The service is at 11:30.\nWe leave the crematorium after the service and walk the 2.5 miles to The Hit or Miss public house in Penn Street. I’m sure that those who will want to hitch a ride from somebody might be able to do so but I will walk.\nAfter the Pub there is a walk of about 4.5 miles back to Amersham. this is not the most direct\, but it is certainly the prettiest.\nThe total length is about 9 miles with the potential option of reducing it by 2 1/2 miles if you get a lift from the crematorium to the Pub.\nI think it would be a fitting way to remember Martin by walking on the day of his funeral.\nI will do a recce of the whole walk before the 28th.\nI guarantee that I will come into the pub this time and I certainly won’t be bringing a packed lunch.

SUMMARY:Ashridge Estate Circular to explore Best Bluebell Woods
DESCRIPTION:General Area:-  Ashridge Estate Circular to explore Best Bluebell Woods  Miles  11.5  Grade  Moderate\nMeeting Time 10.25   Meeting Place  Tring Station  (on right side of footbridge near carpark)\nLeader  Sue Aldridge  Leaders Mobile  07713 025494  on the day only.\nTravel:-  Depart Harrow & Wealdstone  9.51\,  Watford Junc. 10.00\,  Arrive Tring 10.21\nNature of Walk:-  Departing from Tring Station we soon ascend the wooded scarp slope into the Ashridge Estate to walk through Copse Wood to have our first glimpse of the bluebells. We have a brief break at the visitor centre\, mainly for toilets and quick drinks. Then we loop round Ashridge Park\, crossing the golf course heading towards Little Gaddesden. Picnic lunch probably on edge of golf course area\, a short distance from ‘The Bridgewater Arms’ Pub where we hope to have time for drinks and use of toilets. (P.S. Very limited seating where we have our picnic so best bring a sitting mat in case grass is damp). We then continue via Ringshall and soon will walk round Crawley Wood and Dockey Wood\, well known for their fantastic displays of bluebells. As it is the day leading up to the bank holiday weekend there is likely to be a small NT admission charge of approx. £3.50\, preferably cash\, to be able to walk round Dockey Wood\, but if you are a National Trust Member\, please bring your membership card to allow free access to Dockey Wood. Later\, we will trek south along small tracks through the heart of the forest\, hopefully seeing even more bluebells on our way back to the visitor centre\, where we will have a much needed tea and toilet stop. Lastly\, the descent down through scenic Albury village will soon bring us back to catch the train home from Tring Station. \nAlthough a fairly long walk\, there is only one steepish ascent early on in the morning\, then most of the walk is gently undulating with quite a few flat sections. Some possible muddy tracks in woodland areas\, particularly if there has been recent wet weather. Walking poles may be helpful if you normally use them as a few paths may be a bit rough and uneven. No toilets at Tring Station but will have two stops at Visitor Centre for toilets on outward and returning walk\, plus at the Pub.

DESCRIPTION:General area: Watford Metropolitan line station to Berkhamsted Station Miles: 11.3 easy\nMeeting time: 10:30 Meeting Place: Watford Metropolitan Line Station\nLeader: Michael Romain Mobile: 07818 000849\nTravel: from Harrow on the Hill Station take the Metropolitan line (10:02 arriving 10:22)  to Watford.\nNature of walk: This walk starts through Cassiobury Park and then joins the canal and we walk north. It is a pleasant Canal sidewalk. There is a café at a Garden Centre en route which has proved popular in the past. I still take my own sandwiches! There are frequent trains back from Berkhamsted to Euston. For those who have the energy a walk around the ruins of Berkhampstead Castle which is owned by English Heritage is worthwhile.
