DESCRIPTION:General Area: London – Hampstead Heath and Highgate Miles: 6.5 miles of easy walking on surfaced paths with some hills\nMeeting Time: 10.30 a.m. Meeting Place:Hampstead Station (Underground – Northern Line)\nLeaders: Kay Waddilove & Margaret Huitson Leaders’ Mobiles: Kay 07518 365746; Margaret 07762 310509\nTravel: Hampstead Station is on the Northern tube line. It is served by bus services 268\, 46\, 603\, 113\, 13. It is a 20-minute walk from Finchley Road (Metropolitan line) and Finchley Road & Frognal (Overground – Mildmay line) stations.\nNature of Walk: This circular walk explores one of London’s best known open spaces. It ascends to the splendid viewpoint of Parliament Hill\, then skirts the edges of Hampstead Heath via Hampstead and Highgate Ponds (including dog ponds – canines welcome on the walk!). We pass the famous Highgate cemetery\, then ascend to Kenwood House\, where we will stop for lunch-with-a-view. Please bring a picnic for our lunch stop at Kenwood\, where there are public toilets and a café for tea/coffee/soft drinks. We continue via a sculpture park\, Jack Straw’s (ex) Castle\, and the picturesque streets of Hampstead Grove\, Holly Bush Hill and Heath Street before returning to the station.
